The European Hydrogen Forum

An entire week dedicated to hydrogen!

[23th November 2020] Co-organized by the European Commission and the European fuel cell and hydrogen industry, the first edition of the European Hydrogen Week will take place from 23 to 27 November 2020. Clean hydrogen plays a major role in the energy transition and in the decarbonisation of certain sectors of our economy. The European Hydrogen Week continues the wish of the Clean Hydrogen Alliance to which many stakeholders signed up this summer. These 5 days will be dedicated to the key role that hydrogen plays in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The highlights

Among the highlights of this hydrogen week:

  • Two days of discussion to kick off hydrogen week | 23-24 November

Trough online conferences, it will be the opportunity to exchange ideas on technological development, to share and get feedback about current project but also to have discussions about scaling-up of electrolysers, the use of hydrogen in transport, hydrogen in the energy grid and market uptake and standardization. All those exchanges will help to accelerate the market and the large scale-up of hydrogen.

  • FCH-JU 2020 awards ceremony | November 24, after the conferences

The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU, it’s a public private partnership supporting research, technological development and demonstration activities in fuel cell and hydrogen in Europe) will be hosting the fourth edition of its Awards’ceremony on 24 November to celebrate most successful and innovative projects of the year.

  • Dialogue with NOW | 25 november

Next day, on 25 November, a relevant discussion will be organized by the German National Organization Hydrogen and Fuell Cell Technology (NOW is responsible for the coordination and management of the National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology), the FCH JU and with the support of the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry of Transport. It will concern the best-practice approaches to build up a hydrogen economy as well as to ensure the overall transition to a climate neutral Europe.

  • European Hydrogen Forum | November 26-27

Among the highlight of the week: the European Hydrogen Forum is marking the deployment of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, after its successful launch in July this year.

The Forum is co-organized by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) and the FCH JU, in partnership with Hydrogen Europe and Hydrogen Europe Research, and will last two days, the 26th and 27th November 2020.

Starting with a keynote speech by the European Commision’s Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, the day will be followed by discussions, exchanges on subject “the EU hydrogen industry to achieve the EU climate goals”, but also on the market opportunities, the role of low or zero carbon hydrogen in clean energy transition.

McPhy is proud to be a member of the European Alliance for Clean Hydrogen (read more: click here / ECHA Page), and to have been selected among more than 200 applications to participate in the European Hydrogen Forum, a 40-speaker conference cycle.

To attend the keynote of Laurent Carme, CEO of McPhy, watch the live broadcast on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during the session “Hydrogen projects in the pipeline”, in the presence of other hydrogen players. We will talk about industrialization and scale-up put at the service of the competitiveness of zero-carbon hydrogen. [For the live stream]

A great opportunity to discuss with various industry players, political decision-makers and the research community, with the same objective, the development of green hydrogen.
