For the very first time, for a 7-day trial, the Qinghai province will be powered by a 100% renewable energy mix.
Following the “European Fuel Cell Car Workshop 2017” held in Orléans (France), the CNRS takes a closer look at this new technology and its advantages.
Among the hydrogen vehicle’s several advantages:
“Refueling with hydrogen takes the same time as with regular fuel: between 3 and 5 minutes, compared to the several hours needed to charge a battery electric car. Furthermore, their fuel range is similar to that of diesel vehicles: a single hydrogen refill provides up to 600 kilometers of travel, or 2 to 3 times greater than for battery electric cars. In France, this it the “Sustainable Development Week”. A perfect opportunity to discover #CleanEnergy thanks to the “5 minutes guide to hydrogen” of Arup.
[31 May 2017]Excerpt: “Hydrogen can be derived, stored and converted through various processes, each of which represents different levels of carbon intensity, efficiency and end use functionality. Our latest five minute guide looks at this energy vector in brief including public perception, transportation and storage as well as using hydrogen as a solution.”

“Oliver Bishop, Hydrogen General Manager at Shell said “Customers are at the heart of what we do. We are pleased to have collaborated with Designworks in the development of a new hydrogen dispenser that will allow us to provide customers an improved hydrogen experience. It will not only make refueling seamless, it will also help make hydrogen fuel an even more attractive option in the future”.”

“As the cost of advanced technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of vehicle travel rises, car companies have increasingly partnered to share those technologies and their costs.
BMW will begin testing its hydrogen-powered prototypes on the street this year, and expects several years of development time to follow.”

“The Toyota Mirai (fuel cell vehicle, zero emission) eco-billboard campaign, working in conjunction with Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, will launch 37 billboards in Los Angeles and San Francisco. From April 3 to May 28, these structures will create 24,960 square feet of pollution-scrubbing surface, and reverse the nitrogen dioxide (NOx) emissions of an equivalent 5,285 vehicles per month, according to a Toyota press release. NOx is a contributor to acid rain and smog.”

“A new £23 million fund to accelerate the take up of hydrogen vehicles and roll out more cutting-edge infrastructure has been announced by the government today (18 March 2017).
Hydrogen fuel providers will be able to bid for funding in partnership with organisations that produce hydrogen vehicles to help build high-tech infrastructure, including fuel stations. The funding will boost the creation of hydrogen fuel infrastructure and uptake of hydrogen-powered vehicles.”
