McPhy to equip the hydrogen refuelling station in Sarreguemines

  • Confirmation of deployment for hydrogen mobility solutions in France

A new success for McPhy Energy, specialised in hydrogen production and storage equipment for industry and energy markets, which will equip the hydrogen refuelling station in Sarreguemines (Moselle, France) with its solution specifically designed for the hydrogen mobility market, combining its McFilling®, McStore® and McLyzer® technologies.

This refuelling station will be delivered during the second half of 2016 to the inter-community authority (Communauté d’agglomération Sarreguemines Confluences or CASC), the operating entity. This key infrastructure component is at the heart of the FaHyence project spearheaded by the CASC, positive energy territory for green growth, as part of its Climate plan, in partnership with McPhy Energy, EDF, EIFER (European Institute for Energy Research, a joint laboratory facility of EDF and the University of Karlsruhe in Germany), the Alphea Hydrogène not-for-profit and Haskel.

This project provides for the deployment of 11 Renault Kangoo ZE-H2 utility vehicles powered by hybrid fuel cells with hydrogen-range extenders (HyKangoo) for this first facility.

The construction of this new hydrogen refuelling station confirms that the hydrogen mobility solution for electric vehicles becomes a reality in France and Europe. The recent launch of the Hydrogen Mobility Europe (H2ME) project, with €32 million in financing destined in particular for the construction of 29 refuelling stations in 10 European countries, and the announcement by the French retail auto industry association (Conseil National des Professions de l’Automobile) that has joined forces with hydrogen industry players, confirms the commencement of the infrastructure deployment phase. In this context, the relevance of our modular offering which, by combining our technologies for the vehicle refuelling, storage and production, contributes to the deployment of hydrogen infrastructures by limiting initial costs and optimizing investments over time in relation to the specific needs of the auto market, is a source of particular satisfaction”, concluded McPhy Energy’s Chairman and CEO, Pascal Mauberger.
